The PSL-RHEOTEK range of AUTO Kinematic Viscometers fully automate the determination of kinematic viscosity from -40 to +100oC. Latest technology, including a colour touchscreen interface, is combined with high precision ASTM Ubbelohde capillary tubes.

PSL-RHEOTEK AUTO Kinematic Viscometers can be configured with a combination of one or two bath cells:

- Auto bath cell - with a standard temperature range +40 to 100oC. Suitable for measuring diesles, residual fuels, lubricants and base oils.

- Sub-zero bath cell - with a standard temperature range -40 to +40oC. Suitable for measuring jet fuels and diesels as well as other sub-zero temperature applications e.g. brake fluid, lwo temperature aviation lubricants.

- Multi bath cells - with a combined temperature range -40 to +100 deg. C. Suitable for measuring jet fuels, diesels, residual fuels and other petroleum products.

The AUTO KV technology has a patent pending covering some of the unique design and operating features. 

PSL-RHEOTEK AUTO Kinematic Viscometers have the following features:

  • modern fully automated laboratory analyzer

  • glass capillary design conforms to a recognized specification as per ASTM D446

  • simple to change glass viscometer tubes - no additional sensors attached

  • after loading, samples are drawn up the capillary using an internal "mini pump", thus avoiding the loss of light ends in light fuels

  • wide viscosity ranges are possible with flow times less than 200 seconds (allowable for automated instruments)

  • two successive flow times are measured

  • method precision requirements can be easily met

  • sample throughput times can be optimized whilst still remaining within the method requirements and precision

  • effective in-situ cleaning and drying for all types of samples

  • direct comparison is possible with manual glass capillary viscometer results

In addition, calibration of the ASTM Ubbelohde tubes can be performed independently of the automated apparatus. This provides the user with traceable calibration data.

The PSL-RHEOTEK range of AUTO Kinematic Viscometers have been designed to determine kinematic viscosity in full compliance with ASTM D445, IP71 and ISO 3104. This ensures that users can fully meet the specification requirements of petroleum products e.g. jet fuels, diesels, residual fuels.
